Expectations of citizens on newly elected officials

To the editor: Indeed, as Messrs. Pollison and Quinlan wrote: “the recent town council election shake-up was a clear message from the Sparta voters of the wish for a change,” indicating that there are numbers of Sparta residents who are sending a clear message that they desire more accountability, transparency and openness regarding how issues are discussed and decisions are made, and dissatisfaction with the way there is no regard for historical preservation here in recent years. “Leaving the preservation of history in the hands of developers is like leaving the welfare of sheep in the care of the wolf”, or, in my words, letting the fox in the henhouse,” Mr. Quinlan said. I hope the newly elected officials hear the message loudly and clearly about the expectations of Sparta citizenry this time. Marilyn Chapman Sparta
