Fond farewell to Sparta
To the Editor: I moved to Lake Mohawk almost eight years ago. I have made friends here, and have wonderful neighbors. I just sold my home and in two weeks I will be moving to NYC to begin another adventure. I am writing to you to say thank you to everyone in Sparta who contributed to the Katrina collection I did in September and especially to my neighbors on Oakwood Trail. Like everyone, I watched the horror unfold as the survivors of Katrina were trying to have hope, clothing, and basic needs. I made a little flyer and said I was headed to Mississippi in a few days and wanted to fill a truck with anything and everything people may need, going door to door and hanging flyers up locally. People began arriving at my garage with bags full. The outpouring was so heartfelt and memorable. I will never forget my first house and will never forget the generosity of the people of Sparta. Thank you and God bless everyone. Vicki Ferentinos Soon to be New Yorker
