To the Editor: The Sparta community recently enjoyed the 31st annual Sparta Day (see accompanying photos). The Junior Woman’s Club of Sparta has worked in conjunction with the Sparta Parks and Recreation Department to organize this event for many years. Our club members enjoy great satisfaction from volunteering their time and effort on this family event. We also have lots of people to thank for their help and support. This year Kids’ Country was free to the public. This would not have been possible without the support of our local sponsors. Thanks to Buckles & Bows; Dr. Anna Patras, Orthodontics; Real Estate Consultants; R.B. Painting; Ailish’s Alpine Paint Center; Dr. Pamela Alberto. DMD; Aurora Electrical Supply; Century 21 Gross & Jansen; The Highlands Veterinary Hospital; Scully Travel and Sussex County Pediatrics. Thank you to our demonstrators, Schutz Gymnastics, East West Karate and Biryukov’s Academy of Art and Music. Thank you to all the students who volunteered their time for face painting. Many groups in our community contributed to making Sparta Day a success. Thank you to the Sparta Police Dept. for providing their presence and traffic control. Thanks to the Sparta Volunteer Fire Dept. for providing the fire engine and generator. Thanks to Grinnell for donating a dumpster. Thank you to Joel Mastandrea of World Delites Deli for coordinating the food concessions. And finally, thank you to the Sparta Independent for your generous coverage of this event.
