On behalf of the Sparta Education Foundation (SEF) and the children of our public school district, we would like to thank the volunteers, sponsors and trotters who came together last week to help make the 11th Annual Krogh’s Turkey Trot a success. Amidst the backdrop of a beautiful Lake Mohawk morning, over 2400 runners and their families kicked off Thanksgiving with friends and neighbors at the annual race. All proceeds from the event benefit the Sparta Education Foundation. To date, our Foundation has awarded grants in excess of $879,000 to our public schools. Please visit our website at spartaeducationfoundation.org to learn more about these grants and how you can become a part of the Foundation.
We are grateful to our sponsors, without whose generosity the Turkey Trot would not be possible. Thank you also to the Sparta Runners Club, who for the past 11 years has manned our parking lots. We are also grateful to Sparta Township Manager William Close and the Sparta Police Department for use of their equipment and assistance at our event. Finally, a very special thanks to the Lake Mohawk Country Club for allowing us to host our pasta party and registration in the Club. All of these businesses and our sponsors truly personify the essence of community and we feel so fortunate to partner with them.
Each Thanksgiving, as the plaza fills with the energy of runners, neighbors, school children, and travellers returning home for the holidays, we are reminded of Sparta’s wonderful community heart and spirit and the role a strong public school system plays in its foundation. On behalf of the Sparta Education Foundation and the children of our public schools, we offer our gratitude and best wishes for the holiday season.
    Sincerely,
