To the editor: One of the most significant decisions you will be making is coming up on September 26th, voting on the referendum for the new high school. This decision will decide the future of our town, it’s families and most importantly it’s youth. I urge all of my fellow citizens to come out and vote on that critical date. When you do cast your vote, let it be your conscience and not your pocketbook that makes the ultimate decision. Recently, at a special town council work session, the final list of goals were set and prioritized. Please visit the Sparta Town Web site and click on “2006 Town Council Goals - Revised” on the home page. This will give you a full list of the goals that are envisioned for our town, both short and long range. They represent what many within our community have been asking for quite a while. All of these goals will be implemented only after they are voted upon, on an individual basis, for incorporation into our policies. Many of these goals call for citizen participation in various committees that can provide input to the TC regarding what our citizens are looking for in terms of future needs for our community. This is a great opportunity for a strong volunteer effort to move these programs along. I have great faith in my fellow citizens that there will be a strong surge of support to participate in the future of our town. Manny Goldberg Mayor
