Mayor's Corner, September 7
As part of a program to develop a better and stronger working relationship between the Town Council and Board of Education, we will be having a joint meeting. This is currently scheduled for November 8. The public will be advised of the location of the meeting. The agenda will include ways and means to help promote a greater degree of cooperation between both entities to insure that the needs of our youth and community are being served in the best possible manner. Topics will include sharing of facilities for the common good as well as ways to save taxpayer money through innovative approaches towards sharing similar services. Additionally, I will be conducting informal meetings with the BOE President as well as the School Superintendent on a regular basis. Several of the recently suggested Council goals include the formation of volunteer citizen committees to advise the Council on various aspects of our community, including amongst others - infrastructure, needs of our youth and improving communications with the citizens. This is an excellent opportunity for citizen involvement in the future of our town. The only way the Council can truly reflect the needs and desires of our citizens is by folks from our community playing a major role in the decisions that are made. In the last few weeks, several people have contacted me and offered to volunteer their services on existing committees. It is my sincere desire that this community involvement will grow and continue as we all move forward to make this a better town than it already is. If we are to grow and prosper, the participation of the public will play a major role in the future direction of our town. Manny Goldberg Mayor
