Samaritan went out on a limb

To the Editor: I want to tell you about a Good Samaritan who literally went out on a limb. My family lives on Whippoorwill Lane, where a cat recently got stuck in a tree. Despite many neighbors’ best efforts to rescue it or entice it to come down with food and drink, after four days the cat was still stuck. Knowing some neighbors up the street were having tree work done, my husband decided to walk over and approach the workers about to see if they could try to reach the cat. Lee Kirdzic, owner of Skyline Tree Service, could not have been nicer. He immediately stopped his work, assembled his climbing gear, and went with my husband to check on the cat.. Lee climbed the tree and literally went out on a limb to reach the cat and lower her to safety. No charges, no hassle, just “glad to help.” I speak for many in the neighborhood who would like to thank Lee Kirdzic again for his kindness and professionalism. I am also pleased to report that after putting up some notices, two days later the affectionate cat, “Cleo,” was reunited with her owners. Shirley Miller Sparta
