Sparta High a special place
To the Editor: As president of the Sparta High School Student Council, I feel obligated to respond to Mary DeMeulenaere’s letter, printed in the May 11 edition of the Sparta Independent. Sparta High School is a special place. As soon as you walk through its door, you feel a sense of pride. My classmates are hardworking and are constantly challenged by a professional staff that truly cares about us. While it is apparent that our facility leaves much to be desired, in no way has it deterred our morale and willingness to excel. Mr. Lio, our principal, and Dr. Morton, our superintendent of schools, have always praised our accomplishments and never made any student feel inadequate. Let’s not lose sight of the fact that we are in desperate need of a new facility one that will meet the needs of an ever-increasing student population and allow us to compete with students throughout the county and state.
