Sparta Library: A shining light when the power was out

| 15 Feb 2012 | 10:07

A silver lining during the power outages so many of us experienced last week was found at the Sparta Library. Many Sparta residents visited the library to get out of their cold, dark homes and found a welcome refuge. The Library Director Carol Boutilier and her entire staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly as they provided a home-away-from-home atmosphere for those without power. The staff set up coffee, tea, cocoa and snacks for everyone to enjoy. Many of us used the library's WiFi Internet access and were able to charge our cell phones, laptops and all the other devices we have come to rely upon. All of these services were free of charge. As someone who works from home, the ability to work at the library was a lifesaver. I'd like to thank Carol and her staff at the Sparta Library; you really helped so many of us cope with the frustrations of last week by providing your trademark friendliness and hospitality.
