Sparta needs Wayne Ring

To the Editor: Sparta needs more people in government like Wayne Ring, running for re-election to the township council on May 9. While still a private citizen, and driven by a desire to keep taxes low, he successfully mounted an effort to stop a $5 million community center, while searching for cost-effective alternatives for Sparta’s young people. He found the time to come prepared to council and board of education meetings. He served on the Community Facilities Taskforce and championed a less costly addition/renovation solution to overcrowding in the schools. When first elected to the council 18 months ago, he redoubled his efforts, conducting line-by-line reviews of the township budget, cutting spending while maintaining essential services. He takes the time to be informed on the issues, to listen to his constituents and render decisions that are in the best interests of all of Sparta. In the time I have known Wayne, I have found him to be honest, to have no personal agenda other than service to this town, and to answer to no interests other than the citizens he was elected to serve. He has won my vote - he deserves yours. Kirsten Flaherty Sparta
