Springsteen concert worth the money

To the Editor: In these times of $12 dollar movie tickets, $8 beers at ball games and even regular gas over $3 a gallon, it is gratifying when you finally get your money’s worth. Last night, I took my niece to see Bruce Springsteen (“Seeger Sessions Tour”). I have been to numerous Springsteen shows and now have taken my mom to a show and my niece, Jenna. Some day I hope to turn my family into a whole cheering section. PNC Arts Center, located off Exit 116 of the Garden State Parkway, is clean and well organized, with shuttles for those in field parking lots, plenty of state troopers directing traffic, and clean, well-placed concession stands and seating. My niece was amazed at the range of people who attended the concert, as it went from families with young children to those well into their sixties. Bruce came on at 8:30 p.m. and played until his last encore ended at 11:30. The three straight hours of music had the crowd on their feet the entire time. My legs the next day told that story. Covered seats (not lawn) cost $90 each. Taking into account the concert venue, the performer and the performance, I got my money’s worth, something you can’t often say nowadays. To top it off, I have converted another family member to the “Bruuuuuce” family. That was priceless. Christopher Bernard Newton
