Thanks for helping keep kids safe

To the Editor: The Junior Woman’s Club of Sparta recently completed its 18th year of “Safety Village,” a comprehensive and fun safety education program for children entering a Sparta kindergarten this fall. The program was staffed by our dedicated club members and other community volunteers, who selflessly gave up their time to teach our youngest Spartans how to stay safe. This year we were also fortunate to have a team of teenage volunteers who gave up time from their summer vacation to give us a hand. The JWCS had help from several organizations without whom our program would not be what it is today. We thank the Sparta Police Dept., the Sparta Ambulance Dept., Embarq (formerly Sprint) Telephone, First Student Lafayette Bus Co., Sussex County chapter of the American Red Cross, the N.J. Initial Response Team, East West Karate and Buckles & Bows, for being our sponsor this year. We also thank Helen Morgan Elementary School and the staff for use of their school and for preparing the school for the event.
