Thanks for saving our lives

To the editor: This past Thursday, a friend and I went for a walk in the woods. After losing the trail and having the sun go down on us we called my stepfather, a police officer in Sparta to come get us, but soon realized that not only were we more lost than we thought, but that we also hiked a lot further than we thought. He then called the Sparta Fire Department and a search party was sent out to find us. The firemen along with several EMTs searched for us for several hours before finding us in Hardyston. I would like to say a special thank you to all of the people who came out looking for us Thursday. It was a dark, cold night and you all readily gave up your evening to walk in the woods for hours to look for two lost teens. Thank you all very much for that, I know that if you guys hadn’t come out to find us, then we would have spent the night in the woods and especially with the cold weather. I am happy that that wasn’t the situation. I really appreciate your sense of duty and sacrifice. The citizens of Sparta are extremely lucky to have such a dedicated team of volunteers. Thank you again. Kayla Meny Sparta
