Thanks Sparta middle schoolers for clothes aid

To the Editor: I am writing on behalf of Harvest Home Clothing, a division of SCARC. For the past four years, the Sparta Middle School H2H Club, and the Student Council, have held clothing drives to benefit our thrift stores. Under the direction of guidance counselor John Cantelmo, the children organize and collect hundreds of gently used clothing items that are, in turn, given out to people in need in our communities. A few are sold at a minimal cost to people looking for a “bargain.” The funds raised go back into SCARC, which supports people with disabilities. The parents of students from Sparta Middle School can certainly be proud of the hard work and generosity that the kids display in helping others. The look on the face of a teen who can pick out “cool” clothes from our thrift store for free is heart-warming, and our clients at Harvest Home enjoy working with the students in loading the donations onto the van. This year’s fall drive brough it an incredible amount of clothing. That is testimony to a lot of hard work by the students. So thank you, John Cantelmo and all the students at Sparta Middle School for a job well done. Diane Madsen (program specialist at HHC) Newton
