Unhappy with council decisions

It is with great despair that I read of the Sparta Council decision to layoff Police Officers and 9-1-1 dispatchers. If we needed this manpower to preserve the safety of our citizen how do we now function with less? I have tried on several avenues to contact this same council and find out why the quarry is not being sold. This endeavor of the council has fallen flat on its face. The purchase of this property cost the town $2.5 million in needed tax dollars. It was supposed to be the answer to everything by supplying hydro electric power. We now know that this is costly and not feasible. Why then has this council not sold this property recouped our $2.5 million and put this property back on the tax roll? I hear that homeowners in the area do not want the quarry open. Well then, why did you buy a home in this area? The entire welfare of Sparta should not be dictated by a few votes near the Quarry.
