Two candidates ran for one open seat on Sparta Township Council.
The seat became available after Dan Chiariello resigned in April. According to unofficial results, Michael Sylvester was elected and will serve a one-year term.
As of press time, total votes were as follows:
Michael Sylvester: 4,511
Molly Whilesmith: 4,064
All results are unofficial until certified by the Board of Elections.
